TALON Cyber League equips emerging professionals with hands-on IT and cybersecurity experience. We bridge the gap between education and industry, empowering today’s students to become tomorrow’s leaders.
Thanks to our generous sponsors, TALON delivers meaningful events that provide valuable experiences for students while creating direct connections between industry leaders and emerging cybersecurity talent.
The Southwest Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (SWCCDC) is TALON’s flagship event, where top teams from across the region compete for the chance to advance to the National CCDC. It’s a high-impact experience that challenges and prepares students for careers in cybersecurity.

We’re passionate about bridging the gap between emerging cybersecurity professionals and companies eager to find fresh talent. TALON creates meaningful connections that help students launch their careers and employers discover tomorrow’s leaders.

Our competitions immerse students in hands-on scenarios using real equipment and software. By simulating authentic cybersecurity challenges, we prepare competitors to face the complexities of the field with practical, applicable skills.

Beyond technical training, TALON fosters growth through networking, mentorship, and open dialogue. We create an environment where students not only develop expertise but also the confidence and curiosity that define great professionals.
CCDC challenges college students to operate realistic enterprise systems and defend against live adversaries in a fast-paced, team-based environment. Each year, hundreds of teams across ten regions compete for a spot at Nationals, gaining hands-on experience and industry visibility. SWCCDC is the founding region of the competition and has hosted events since 2005. SWCCDC isn’t just a competition, it’s a career catalyst. For industry partners, it also offers a meaningful way to connect with some of the brightest rising talent in cybersecurity.
Students leave SWCCDC with more than technical experience, they build the confidence to make tough decisions under uncertainty. They learn to assess risk, justify their actions, and adapt to evolving challenges without a fixed set of instructions or playbooks. It’s a chance to grow not just as technologists, but as thoughtful, accountable professionals ready for real-world responsibilities.
SWCCDC starts with a virtual qualification event open to any team in the region. The top eight advance to our in-person regional event each March, hosted in partnership with the University of Tulsa. Over three days, students compete, connect with industry sponsors, and deepen their understanding of cybersecurity through hands-on challenges and mentorship.
Thanks to the support of our sponsors, SWCCDC covers 100% of participation costs. We provide lodging, meals, and travel support for all qualifying teams so students can focus on learning, not logistics. Our commitment is simple: no student should be excluded from cybersecurity education because of financial barriers.
All sponsors will need to have committed sponsorships by this time.
